Hi, my name is Hannah
I am a multidisciplinary Designer and Illustrator specializing in illustration, custom graphics, and information design for the built environment. I bridge the gap between creative ideas and practical functionality by delivering visually engaging and purpose-driven solutions.
But… what exactly does that mean?
I am a creative; I solve problems. The way I solve problems is through using my skills in illustration, type, and graphic design to communicate ideas and stories.

My career in the Experiential Design Industry began with my employment at The Cygnus Design Group in the summer of 2017. With Cygnus I strategize wayfinding systems and design signage systems and environmental graphics (think murals and donor walls) to enhance people’s experience of physical spaces.
While I didn’t know that experiential graphic design was a discipline prior to my work with Cygnus, I have found a deep passion and fulfillment from using my skills to help people in real ways. For my clients, I bridge the gap between their brand identity and architecture. I care deeply about doing quality work and constantly improving my design practice. In doing so, I turn signage into works of art.
In tandem with my day job, I do freelance design and illustration work. I designed logos for a Wordfest event and the Dominican Starfish Foundation, illustrated several whiteboard videos produced by Argentic Multimedia, and in 2020 I illustrated a short story that was published in the September edition of Chirp Magazine. In 2022 I launched the first products on my Etsy Shop which has now expanded to include greeting cards, stickers, art prints, keychains, calendars, and more!
My artistic expression is fuelled by my experiences. Reflecting on the little girl I once was and the things that bring me joy then and now, influences my artistic practice and creative voice. Ordinary life experiences are the building blocks for creating extra-ordinary stories with relatable threads. My personal personal projects are cute, quirky, endearing, and often draw on nostalgic themes and nature motifs. I follow my inspiration, wherever it leads.
To sum it up, I employ my arsenal of design and illustration skills to improve human experiences and lives. I am multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary.

I’m not sure if this is a universal experience, but looking back on my personal history, it seems that becoming a designer was the obvious life path for me.
I was processing my world and mind through drawing before the age of 2. As a ferociously curious and creative little girl, I would draw, paint, craft, sculpt (with playdough) often. I also invented games and imaginary worlds with my friends and siblings. Through play, creativity and art wove itself into the fabric of my identity.
In elementary school, I became the quintessential art kid. I found the admiration of my peers validating and encouraging. It became a feedback loop encouraging my creative development onward, yet, I was resistant to the idea of “growing up” to be an artist. I thought I should take a more logical, practical approach to life. I wanted to become a doctor, a scientist, or a famous singer (the most practical of the three, of course).
Fast forward to middle school. My love of drawing never faded, but homework often took priority. I got my first wacom tablet which opened my eyes to the world of digital illustration. This new medium launched me into a creative frenzy. I began pumping out emo Warrior Cat character designs like they were going out of style! (which they were…)
In high school I focused most of my energy on math and science classes. I took a couple of art modules that introduced me to linocut printing, watercolour, and logo design. Once again I felt the pull towards creative expression. My parents signed me up for the pre-college program at Alberta College of Art and Design (now Alberta University of the Arts). The emphasis on storytelling through visual symbolism laid the foundation for my future studies as a student of the school. At this point, I finally accepted that my future career would involve my affinity for creative expression.
I spent the years of 2013-2017 studying at ACAD, graduating with a Bachelors of Design and major in illustration. Between my years of study I interned at The Banff Centre and Wordfest. Each of these experiences taught me about web and print design.
After graduating I began my independent freelance business and career in the experiential graphic design industry.

Outside of my work and career, I am a mother to a beautiful boy and a wife to a wonderful, supportive husband. I find being a mom an enriching experience. Watching my kiddo grow, learn, and become his own person has me awe-struck. He is curious, and his curiosity and questions encourage me to do the same. I hope to never, ever stop learning.
I tend to hyper-focus on my hobbies and interests. Reading is a long-time favourite escape from the day to day. I enjoy watching shows and movies from nearly every genre, except horror. I enjoy skiing in the winter time and biking in the summer. I also enjoy fishing in lakes, ponds, and the Bow and Elbow rivers.
